The practical application of knowledge to reach specific goals in a reproductive, easy, and faster way is technology. It is not just mobile phones or the internet but any evolved process of doing a certain thing in a new and manipulative method with a scientific approach that is what technology is.
Technology is made by humans, meant to create something better and more efficient than what was used previously. It always takes birth out of purpose, curiosity, and creativity. Technology is not a recent concept instead it has been a process evolving through the years since the pre-historic times of humans.
Steps:
According to a Czech philosopher, Radovan Richta, technology is said to be evolved in three steps- Tools, Machines, and Automation. In the pre-historic period when humans started developing rational thinking or attitudes toward their environment, they introduced advanced ways of doing their everyday tasks. For example introduction of stonetools, arrows, hammers, bucket, etc. We in today’s period might think that technology is the internet, laptops, machines, etc but originally the base of technology is held by any material that might ease the process of doing tasks in an advance and faster way.
Second is the introduction of machines. Machines have acted as the substitution for all physical efforts of humans, requiring only functional control. It has given ease of work, reduction in completion time and has given efficient way working. Machines were introduced way back in the late 18th century, in England during the industrial revolution. That is when the machine age began. The introduction of railways, cars, windmills, and pulleys took place. Machines like computers and mobiles have taken birth recently.
Last but not the least; Automation has started replacing all human efforts with machines. Automation refers to the fact that no human control requires in the functioning of a machine. The machines have been made smart enough to control and direct themselves through a basic setting.
Though machines are being used enormously today but the future is automation. The invention of the internet has been proven to be the backbone of most technological inventions. The machines being combined with the internet and other features automate themselves without much effort. Some examples to prove the statement would be mobiles having Siri and Google assistant to control themselves, railways by automated metros, cars by automated cars, etc.
Technology has just been introduced and has a long way to go. We have just started seeing the beginning of it and have a vision of what it could be but the extent to it is immeasurable.
